Project Impact

St. Patrick’s High School, Québec City

St. Patrick’s High School holds a rich Irish Catholic history, serving as a reminder of Québec’s significant English-speaking Irish community. Located in the province’s capital, St. Patrick’s is known for its annual public speaking competition and dynamic students who are keen advocates of their community.

Québec City is also home to the Morrin Centre, a hidden treasure of English-speaking history, which houses prison cells and a Victorian library, in addition to hosting community events.

Meet the Leadership Classroom

Where each student is participating in Project Impact!

Ms Katherine Lefebvre’s Leadership class is made up of 21 students who are eager to explore the English-speaking heritage around their city. During an activity led by Y4Y in late October 2022, they had the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership skills by discussing advocacy and change within their community. These young students expressed wanting to march in support of the environment, mental health awareness, and equality for all.

Y4Y Field Trip & Activity

Y4Y Québec’s Media Consultations, where students’ discussion focused on the causes they would advocate for, support, or protest.

Ms.Lefebvre’s Leadership classroom had the chance to learn about English-speaking heritage by visiting two renowned National Historic Sites of Canada.

The students explored the Morrin Centre, a former prison and hub for English-speaking heritage in Québec that holds the Literary and Historical Society of Quebec’s historical documents dating back to the 19th century.

The class also visited the Citadelle of Québec, an active military base. After Britain's conquest of New France, the base was used as a defense against potential American attacks, and is now a military installation of the Canadian Armed Forces.
