Y4Y is Supporting Youth-led Projects in Québec
Y4Y is proud to support the next generation of youth leaders through Réseau dialogue’s Programme VIF! As the official Québec partner for the VIF microgrant program, Y4Y is helping young people turn their ideas into action by supporting youth-led projects that bring communities together, encourage French-language engagement, and foster meaningful connections between English-speaking and French-speaking youth.
This year, three exciting youth-led projects are taking place in Québec, with Y4Y serving as the official partner for each initiative:
Le coin francophone
Le coin francophone brings youth aged 14-30 together to practise French through interactive, low-pressure activities, including francophone movie nights, informal discussions, cooking workshops, and games. Designed for youth from diverse linguistic backgrounds, including English-speaking youth and French second-language learners, the project creates a welcoming space to build confidence speaking French naturally and comfortably. Through regular activities at the Jeffery Hale Pavilion, participants will strengthen their language skills while building connections and a greater sense of community.

Upcoming Activity:
Le coin francophone’s next activity is a guided tour of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec to discover the exhibition: Hyperrealism. This Is Not a Body! The tour will be conducted in French and adapted to meet varying French levels. After the tour, participants will meet in a café for a brief discussion about the exhibit in French. All French levels are welcome!

French Book Club for FSL Youth
The French Book Club brings together young adult French learners for accessible reading, relaxed conversation, and community-building. Through monthly discussions and occasional cultural outings, participants will have opportunities to practise French in a welcoming, social environment beyond the classroom. Over the course of the year, the club will help participants build linguistic confidence, connect with other learners, and engage more deeply with Montréal’s francophone cultural scene.

Cake Canvas
Cake Canvas brings young people together for a creative mini-cake decorating workshop centred on culture, connection, and belonging. Participants will decorate their own “blank canvas” cake, using edible paints to express their cultural heritage and hopes for their future in Montréal, while taking part in guided activities and conversation entirely in French. By bringing together youth from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds in a welcoming, low-pressure environment, the workshop will create opportunities to practise French, build new connections, and strengthen participants’ sense of belonging in their city.
