Y4Y is Supporting Youth-led Projects in Québec
Y4Y is proud to support the next generation of youth leaders through Réseau dialogue’s Programme VIF! As the official Québec partner for the VIF microgrant program, Y4Y is helping young people turn their ideas into action by supporting youth-led projects that bring communities together, encourage French-language engagement, and foster meaningful connections between English-speaking and French-speaking youth.
This year, exciting youth-led projects are taking place in Québec, with Y4Y serving as the official partner for each initiative:
Le coin francophone
Le coin francophone brings youth aged 14-30 together to practise French through interactive, low-pressure activities, including francophone movie nights, informal discussions, cooking workshops, and games. Based in Québec City, this initiative brings English-speaking youth together to explore French in a different way each month, from learning Québec expressions and playing outdoor games to discovering Québec culture. Designed for youth from diverse linguistic backgrounds, including English-speaking youth and French second-language learners, the project creates a welcoming space to build confidence speaking French naturally and comfortably. Participants will strengthen their language skills while building connections and a greater sense of community. The initiative offers a fun and accessible opportunity for young people to meet others, practise French, and experience Québec culture together through monthly activities until March 2027.

French Book Club for FSL Youth
An inclusive French-language book and discussion club for English-speaking youth aged 23-30 in Montréal.
The French Book Club brings together young adult French learners for accessible reading, relaxed conversation, and community-building. Through monthly discussions and occasional cultural outings, participants will have opportunities to practise French in a welcoming, social environment beyond the classroom. Over the course of the year, the club will help participants build linguistic confidence, connect with other learners, and engage more deeply with Montréal’s francophone cultural scene.
Location: Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ), Montréal
Launch: Late October - Early November

Cake Canvas
Cake Canvas brings young people together for a creative mini-cake decorating workshop centred on culture, connection, and belonging. Participants will decorate their own “blank canvas” cake, using edible paints to express their cultural heritage and hopes for their future in Montréal, while taking part in guided activities and conversation entirely in French. By bringing together youth from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds in a welcoming, low-pressure environment, the workshop will create opportunities to practise French, build new connections, and strengthen participants’ sense of belonging in their city.

Make Your Own Shimmering Body Oil
At Savonnerie M’Nonga, participants took part in a creative workshop to formulate their own shimmering body oils. By blending nourishingbase oils, beautiful fragrances, and sparkling mica powders,participantscreated personalized body oils with a radiant finish. The hands-on activity encouraged creativity and self-expression while offering an enjoyable opportunity to explore the art of making their own body care products.

Make Your Own Bath Bomb
Participants gathered at Savonnerie M’Nonga for a hands-on bath bomb-making workshop, where they explored the art of mixing natural ingredients, essential oils, and natural colorants to create their own custom-scented bath bombs. This hands-on workshop offered a fun, creative opportunity to learn something new, experiment with different scents and colours, and take home a personalized creation.
