5 Things to Do in Québec City this Halloween Season

October 12, 2022 | Québec City, Capitale-Nationale, Québec

Although I am a scaredy cat when it comes to horror and gore, when Halloween comes I am not against some holiday fun. Here are five spooky activities you can do to get you in the Halloween spirit:

1- Halloween on the Plains of Abraham:
There are many Halloween themed activities on the Plains of Abraham from October 1st to November 12. Activities include: a halloween garden with spooky sculptures and decorations, ghost stories and treasure hunts. More information about the events can be found here.

2- Ghost Tours of Québec:
The Ghost Tours of Québec is an excellent activity to learn about local ghost stories and the dark history of Old Québec. The tour is 90 minutes and takes place after sunset. The tour is conducted by a costumed tour guide who will light the way with a lantern for a spooky and mysterious ambiance. The tour is available in English. You can get your tickets here.

3- Ghost Walking Tour
The Ghost Walking Tour is an excellent activity for those who like the thrill of getting spooked and/or like a more immersive theatrical experience. The tour takes place in Quebec city and it is guided by up to more than 15 ghost characters. There are many tour packages that vary in terms of immersiveness and number of participants. The tour options last 90 min or even up to 2 hours. More information can be found here.

4- St. Matthew’s Cemetery Tour:
St. Matthews cemetery is a beautiful urban cemetery in Québec City. A peaceful promenade with an insight into the city’s history can be a nice afternoon activity. iPhone users can access a free 40 min podcast narrated by historian David Mendel to guide you through the history of the cemetery. Check out the podcast.

5- Érico Chocolate and Pastry Shop
If you want a Halloween themed treat to feel the Halloween spirit then Érico has seasonal Halloween themed chocolates and treats during the month of October. Their Halloween displays are worth checking out as well as there is a chocolate museum there that can be a nice activity to do in addition to getting a Halloween treat.
